The Social Studio launches online, opens new Melbourne store

Not-for-profit fashion house The Social Studio is today launching its e-commerce experience, opening its business up to a nationwide audience.

Additionally, a new bricks and mortar store is opening at Collingwood Yards, Melbourne, with both sites aiming to celebrate the culture of Bla(c)k, indigenous, people of colour (BIPOC), and culturally and linguistically diverse creatives (CALD).

“We’re thrilled to be throwing our support behind some of the country’s most exciting, socially-conscious makers,” CEO Dewi Cooke said.

“Our mission at the Studio is to celebrate the elevate the talents of diverse communities, and we hope that by creating this platform we will help to not only focus the spotlight on the incredible skills and talents of emerging BIPOC and CALD designers but amplify their stories and voices, too.”

Both the online experience and the new store will house The Social Studio’s in-house label, which is created from upcycled materials salvaged from landfill, as well as items from REMUSE, Badaam, North, Gammin Threads, and Bananalands, among others.
